Product Review: Taliah Waajid: Curly Curl Gello

Hello all,

So I picked up a jar of curly gello from my local beauty supply store and I have to say that I am very pleased with my latest purchase.  This Gello is very light and smells absolutely amazing!  I have very thick, kinky hair and I used the product before doing two-strand twists for the night.  I applied the product to dry, untangled hair and made several twists then let it set overnight.  My twist out in the morning was great and not greasy at all!  I get a lot of residue from most of the products that I use.   This product left no residue on my hair.  Being that it is a “gello” I am glad that there was not a stiff, dry hold.  My hair was neat and my curls were intact.

Would I purchase this product again?  WITHOUT A DOUBT!

Hair Growth Update

Good afternoon to all of my beautiful followers. I had a fantastic 15 day vacation to California and the Bahamas. I went to the Bahamas via cruise and had an amazing experience and met several amazing people. Before boarding the ship I tried to pack light and only brought a few hair products with me and I was all set for my 8 day cruise with no hair madness.
I packed my
-Beautiful Textures Defining Pudding
-Castor Oil
-Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-Afro pic
I used a head band and 4 hair pins to create my hairstyles for vacation and BOY o BOY, I was getting compliments left and right. There were so many naturals aboard the ship and random people were asking me for advice on my hair regimen.
There was one picture that I took holding my coconut that I purchased in the Bahamas where my fro looks amazing.

My friends and family made me feel amazing with all of the compliments about my hair growth. I noticed that my hair is taking a bit longer to twist at night and when I pull my curls to twist them, my hair definitely stretches farther than it did back in October when I did the big chop. Knowing that others notice my progress is an amazing and motivating experience. I haven’t done an official length check but my twa amazes me and I love it.

I found a conditioner recommended to me by a blogger that I follow and it worked like a charm while I was away. I will post about it in the next couple of days.

Until next time =)

Embrace Your Natural Beauty

I have officially made it through 2 weeks of rocking my natural hair in public as well as at work. I must admit that I was extremely nervous to go to work after 7 years without some sort of extensions. The paranoia was all in my head because I have not heard one negative comment nor have I seen anyone stare at me like I was a mad woman. I have been getting compliments from complete strangers and it feel absolutely amazing to have my horn tooted by people I have never seen a day in my life.

I have been wearing my hair in a Bantu knot out since I have taken out my kinky twists. I will start experimenting with different styles and show you my end results as well as relay feedback that I receive from the public. My short cut suits me well and even though I have to twist it every night before bed I would not go back to a relaxer EVER!!!!! As my hair continues to grow I worry about the time it will take to prep my hairstyles once it gets longer. I am so glad that I made this decision and had the courage to flaunt my God-given hair shamelessly.

Until next time =)

Successful Bantu Knot Out!!!

Ok so my first post on my bantu knot out did not turn out good at all.  This is take 2 on the style and I did things a bit differently.

IMG-20131019-00432 (1)To achieve this style I shampooed and deep conditioned my hair (as seen in my last post) than I twisted my hair while it was still damp.  I used Jamaican Black Castor Oil to moisturize and used Beautiful Textures Curling Pudding on EVERY section.  I applied a very generous amount of product and combed out each section with a small toothed comb before twisting.  I let my bantu knots air dry over night and in the morning “VUALAH”!!!! I rubbed my hands in pure coconut oil and  untwisted each knot.  I used a tiny bit of edge control for my edges. I am so happy that my bantu knots came out flawlessly.

-Until Next Time =)
