Aysha Michelle Supports CARE

Today as I was walking from Penn Station to school I was approached by a young man by the name of Dylan who is an advocate for CARE.org.  After a very detailed description of what CARE is all about I was more than happy to become apart of the CARE team.

CARE’s mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world.  With my support I can help attack poverty at it root by making sure children go and stay in school, reduce maternal mortality and help maintain long-term change for women and children.

For less than a dollar a day I now provide 3 meals a day and emergency relief help to those in need.  I spend about 4 dollars a day on coffee alone without putting a second thought into it so I figured I could spare a few cents to help those who cannot help themselves.  The donation process was very short and simple but will have a huge impact on families around the world.  If I was ever in need I hope that someone would do the same for me.

I am a Partner for Change.

Product Review” Miss Jessie’s Creme De La Curl

Miss Jessie’s Creme de la curl claims to be a part of “The Best Darn Clensing Cremes Period”.  It is a no lather, sulfate free shampoo that is supposed to cleanse the hair without stripping it.

As per the directions I wet my hair and applied the shampoo and worked it in with my fingers.  Unlike any other shampoo that I’ve used this one did not get all sudsy and foam up.  It felt more like a conditioner and was lightly scented.  My hair felt silky smooth.  Afterwards I washed it out of course but did not use conditioner because I wanted to see if this no later shampoo could lock in moisture and possibly replace conditioner.  I used my Beautiful Textures Defining Pudding.

After my hair dried I untwisted my hair and fluffed my twa into a cute, curly up-do.  Miss Jessie’s Creme de la curl no later shampoo left the right amount of moisture in my hair even after air drying overnight.  I would definitely consider using this product again.

Black Women: How Loving “Your” Hair Can Attract A Man!

Amazing and True!

There’s nothing like a beautiful black woman! Her full lips, her curvaceous body, her attitude, and let’s not forget… her hair! A woman’s hair is her “crown”… it is the order in which a man begins to assess her character, her personality, and her value. Oh there’s much more to hair than just fibers; a man can tell a lot about a woman simply by looking at what she does with her hair or the lack thereof. There’s an abundance of things a black woman can do with her hair; she can cut it all off, braid it up, shave the sides, rock an afro, wear a Mohawk, straighten it out, curl it up, the possibilities are endless!

Oh how beautiful it is to watch your lady taking good care of herself, washing her hair, patting it down with a towel, nurturing it, styling it, and being proud of what she’s accomplished…

Apple Cider Vinegar for the Scalp

For a long as I can remember I have suffered from a severely dry scalp.  I always had to grease my scalp and keep my hair moisturized if I wanted to avoid flaking.  Since going natural I have been using black castor oil for my scalp and it has been working wonders. Its 100% natural and its thick enough to coat my scalp with the right amount of moisture and I have been flake free thus far.  The weather has kept me home bound for the past few days and I ran out of castor oil and just as i thought…. FLAKES!!!!! I used apple cider vinegar twice in the past and it works better than any over the counter product that I have used that promises flake free hair.  Best of all, it can be purchased at your local grocery store for less than $3.  You can’t beat that.

The process:  I mixed half apple cider vinegar and half water into a plastic bottle and shook it up.  I poured a generous amount onto my dry hair and let it soak in for 10 minutes covered with a shower cap.  The only downside to this process is the strong odor of vinegar but it goes away after you rinse it out and it can sting a little.  Not a bad sting like the burning sensation of a relaxer but it’s noticeable.  Afterwards I rinsed it out and did my usual shampoo and conditioner followed by my Bantu knots to set my hair for tomorrow.  Below are the before and after pictures.

Super Bowl 2014

I try to keep up with good ol American Football and every year I watch the Super Bowl.  I don’t follow sports throughout the season but the hype of the Super Bowl calls for celebration.  Like most people I watch for the commercials but this year I wasn’t impressed.  There usually amazing but there was only one that stood out to me this time around.  It was the Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt commercial.  It featured the male adult cast of one of my childhood favorite, Full House.  I am not a fan of yogurt but I just may give it a try after seeing that.

I feel bad for all of the people who placed bets on the Broncos but it’s simply a gamble that went sour.  I didn’t like the lack of suspense as to who would win but great job Seahawks!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a game well-played.
